Abbi Adkins, Owner & Lead Planner
Originally from Yazoo City, Mississippi, I relocated to the Gulf Coast in 2018 after meeting my coast-native husband while we were in college. Thanks to long-standing relationships across the state, our team proudly serves all of Mississippi, along with select areas of southern Louisiana, Alabama, & West Florida.
We currently call Gautier home, where we live with our three children; our 3-year-old son, John Charlie, & 1-year-old twins, Anna & Avery, along with our four fur-babies. With over 10 years of experience in the events industry, bringing a client’s vision to life isn’t just what I do, it’s truly a passion rooted in my heart.
While I may be your first point of contact, Bamari is very much a team effort. Behind the scenes, you may work with Bradley, Taylor, Kyndall, Kassidy, Angelina, Dana, Lilly, Landon, Madalyn, Emily, Tyler, or Autumn. Each member of our team understands how meaningful your event is & is committed to going above & beyond…every single time!
What does Bamari mean?
I’ve always had a fun interest in giraffes. As a child, I vividly remember seeing a news story about a baby giraffe being born on the very same day I received my first giraffe toy as a gift. The newborn giraffe was named Tamu Mastiff, which translates to “Gentle Giant” in Swahili, a native language from Africa, where giraffes originate. Naturally, I named my new giraffe the same, & that moment sparked a lifelong fascination not only with giraffes, but with the Swahili language itself. Fun fact: two of our fur-babies are named in Swahili as well.
Years later, when I began building this business, it felt important that the name carry meaning & intention. Swahili, a language influenced by Arabic, literally means “coastal people,” which felt especially fitting as I was starting this venture shortly after moving to the coast.
After much thought, I wanted the name to be both rooted in meaning & uniquely my own. I drew inspiration from the Swahili word for “ocean” or “sea,” bahari, & replaced the “h” with an “m” to honor the first letter of my maiden name. And that’s how Bamari was born, a name that blends personal history, cultural influence, & a deep connection to place.
