Meet Bamari

Abbi Adkins, Owner & Lead Planner

Originally from Yazoo City, MS, I moved to the Gulf Coast in 2018 after meeting my husband at college! Because of my connections across the entire state, our team services all areas along the coast & into central & north Mississippi. My husband & I currently live in Gulfport with a ‘large’ family consisting of our fur-babies (Twiga, Sampson, Jibini, & Nola) & our newest addition born in April of 2023, John Charlie (not a fur baby!) With over 7 years experience in events, the passion behind bringing someone’s vision to life is truly a love in my heart!

While I may be your first point of contact for any events with us, we have a larger team working behind the scenes to bring everything to life! You may run into Bradley, Taylor, Kyndall, Angelina, Dana, Landon, Madalyn, Emily, Tyler, or Autumn. Each of these guys knows how important you & your event are & do what it takes to go above & beyond for you. Every time!

What does Bamari mean?

I’ve has always had a passion for giraffes. As a child I remember seeing a story in the news about a baby giraffe being born on the very same day I received my first giraffe toy as a gift. The baby giraffe on the news was named ‘Tamu Mastiff’ which is ‘Gentle Giant’ in the language Swahili (the native language of Kenya, Africa - where giraffes are native to.) Of course I had to name my new giraffe the same! Thus began my interest in, not only giraffes, but the Swahili language. Fun fact, two of our fur-babies are named in the language!

Many years later when I was beginning this business, it only felt right that the name include a tribute to the language. The Swahili language was originally formed from Arabic & the word ‘Swahili’ itself means ‘coastal people’. This further solidified my choice in the name since I was beginning this venture shortly after moving to the coast! After a lot of thought, it felt right to make the final decision something unique & new. Taking the Swahili word for ‘ocean’ or ‘sea’ which is ‘bahari’ & switching out the letter ‘h’ for an ‘m’ to commemorate the first letter of my maiden name - Bamari was born!
